STAYING home during lockdown, Sophie Auld from Hampshire wanted to do her bit to help the NHS, so decided she’d climb the height of Mount Everest on her stairs to raise money for our health service.
Sophie initially set out to raise £100, but has already raised more than £685 through her just giving page and offline donations, and the amount of money she has raised to help the NHS is still rising.

Mt Everest is the tallest mountain on land at 8,848 metres. Sophie will need to climb the stairs 3,097 times to reach the summit and has thrown herself into her astounding challenge, sleeping at a makeshift base camp on occasion too!
Sophie says “the NHS is doing such an amazing job, and I wanted to do what I can to help” she continued to say “it’s definitely a much tougher challenge than I realised, but it’s worth it, and I see it as the least I can do”.
