3 JANUARY: RANTAU PANJANG – A building is seen past floodwaters at the Malaysia-Thailand border crossing in the northeastern town of Rantau Panjang. Emergency services in Malaysia deployed boats and trucks this week as thousands of villagers were stranded after four days of heavy rain caused flooding in east coast states, officials said.
