A STREET under lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak has come together to sing happy birthday to an eight-year-old girl.
Lockdown makes celebrating a birthday in the usual way a little tricky. In Bitterne Park, Southampton, the whole street came together to make sure Sophia still felt special as she turned eight years old.
The street’s residents came up with the plan after Sophia’s parents mentioned it was their daughter’s birthday in a community WhatsApp chat.

They decided that at 10am they’d stand in the street or lean out of their windows to wish Sophia a very happy birthday. A local music teacher even joined in with their trumpet!
The video shows Sophia feeling quite overwhelmed by it all, which we hope meant that she appreciated the song from her neighbours.
The lovely gesture ended up going viral, and the video was shared by news companies across the world.
From all of us here at First News, happy birthday Sophia!
