TODAY, Hinduism’s biggest festival, Diwali is celebrated across India and the world.
The festival is known as the ‘festival of lights’ and signifies the victory of good over evil.
So how do you celebrate Diwali?
It’s custom for those celebrating the holiday to wear new clothes, buy gold, new kitchen utensils and give gifts. Typically, the festival can be a major shopping period, similar to Black Friday.
Many people will also clean their houses before the big day, in preparation for the welcoming of the gods.
Different Diwali
This year, India has banned the sale of fireworks in New Delhi for the days leading up to, and following the festival – to help combat air pollution.
During Diwali millions of fireworks are set off, making New Delhi’s already bad air pollution much worse, and causing hospital admissions to soar.
