WE’VE just received a brand new extract from the upcoming Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway, the newest book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

2017 is a big year for Wimpy Kid, as fans will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the publication of the very first Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. 

There are over 194 million copies of the series now in print worldwide, published in 53 languages and it is one of the few series that have surpassed the 150 million mark, including the Harry Potter series (wowzers!).

In Book 12, The Getaway, Greg Heffley and his family are getting out of town. With the cold weather and the stress of the approaching holiday season, the Heffleys decide to escape to a tropical island resort for some much-needed rest and relaxation. A few days in paradise should do wonders for Greg and his frazzled family.

BUT, the Heffleys soon discover that paradise isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be. Sun poisoning, stomach troubles, and venomous critters all threaten to ruin the family’s vacation.
