THIS week I went with my mum and older sister to watch Hairspray the music at the Mayflower theatre in Southampton and we all had the most amazing time.
What’s Hairspray about?
It’s Baltimore, 1962. Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is on a mission to follow her dreams and dance her way onto national TV.Featuring the hit songs Welcome To The 60s, You Can’t Stop The Beat, The Nicest Kids in Town and many more.
My rating!
This week I went with my mum and older sister to watch Hairspray the music at the Mayflower theatre in Southampton and we all had the most amazing time. From start to finish the music and dancing filled the room with excitement.
This was a great show for all ages with families dancing and singing along to the amazing songs.
The set designs were really bright and colourful, too; I couldn’t take my eyes off of the stage. My favourite part of the show was when Tracy sang to Link, it was just like the film, which I also love.
Rebecca Mendoza who played Tracy Turnblad was suited to the role she played and was great in the way she acted throughout.
I would totally recommend going to see Hairspray – it is the best show I have seen in ages. I would give it 10/10.

My theatre group performed a "junior" version of this play (probably not quite so stunning!) and I much enjoyed playing the role of Wilbur Turnblad.
