More than half of young people want to ditch Christmas mince pies and Brussels sprouts for more modern foods.
Nearly eight out of ten said they’d prefer plant-based roasts and food from around the world for Christmas dinner, rather than the traditional turkey roast. American food, like loaded fries (above), was the most popular food that Gen Z (those born up to the early 2010s) wanted, followed by African-inspired dishes and Chinese food.
The survey of 2,000 people by Aldi also showed Gen Zs want to swap the traditional Christmas pudding for other festive desserts like cheesecake or chocolate gateau.
Gen Z is the second youngest generation of people. Most First News readers will be Gen Alpha (born since 2010), so what do you want for Christmas dinner? Do you agree with Gen Z?

It's tradition! You should be able to pick which parts of the dinner you like the most and not have to eat every traditional thing but I believe that it is a massive part of Christmas!

Why? Normal dinner is much more traditional and it is nice to carry it on. Modern food usually tastes disgusting, especially when it is something like nut roast.
