Would you travel in a flying taxi?

SOON we will be able to fly to anywhere on Earth in under an hour.

That’s the claim of rocket and car businessman, Elon Musk. He made the promise at an international astronomical event in Australia.

Musk said he would use the same rocket technology that he is using in his plans to send people to Mars.

He showed the audience a video of passengers boarding a boat in New York City, heading out to a rocket on a launchpad in the water, then shooting off into the atmosphere before making their way back down to earth – this time in Shanghai. The entire trip would take 39 minutes, with the rocket travelling at maximum speeds of 27,000km/h, or about 18,000mph, says Musk. And the cost? Just the price of an economy seat on a normal plane.

“Most of what people consider to be long-distance trips could be completed in less than half an hour,” Musk said.

A journey from London to Dubai would take 29 minutes. And, when you get there, you could get around the city in a flying taxi. This week, scientists in Dubai completed a test flight of the world’s first pilotless flying taxi. At just over 2m tall, the aircraft (above) looks like a cross between a helicopter and a drone. Dubai’s crown prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, watched the empty flight as the aircraft hovered at around 200m and flew for five minutes along the city’s coast. Dubai says the flying taxis will be in service within five years.

I say YES, but it does depend on how badly it'll pollute the Earth and whether it is safe.

leogirl1 · 7 years ago

I would, there would be no traffic delays, but there is also the risk of falling from the air

boss13 · 7 years ago

sick

Teddyowner · 7 years ago

I'm kinda stuck between yes and no:yes because it would be SO cool and no because it might cause air pollution ??

izzy_xxxxx · 7 years ago

How safe will it be, and what is it's carbon footprint???

isaacxm · 7 years ago

Yes, because it would be really cool to fly over a city and see all the buildings from above.

reader985 · 7 years ago

Yes is may cause air pollution, but less than on the ground. Also there is absolutely 0 risk of falling from the sky, as transport in the air is the safest mode of transport and thirdly it would be quicker and more effective.

2266flash · 7 years ago

It might cause air pollution as well if it breaks down. You drown.

cooledie · 7 years ago

I said yes, because I would like to fly and see the city, but then again it will probably cause air pollution so I am kind of stuck.

jic007 · 7 years ago

I would but probably only once!

pinkfoxy · 7 years ago

No, don't you think that instead of creating things that will cause more pollution, scientists should be finding out how to stop pollution?

dancemunch · 7 years ago

We already have enough pollution, and these taxis are ENCOURAGING it. What we really need is a type of transportation that doesn't/barely pollute but people are willing to use it in place of cars.

zayd-12 · 7 years ago

I say no because it could pollut the air and if theres no polite then you are taking a risk

endodragon · 7 years ago

hopefully it would get me places faster

lilialolli · 7 years ago

I think no, I don't really no how safe it is and it might cost loads of money plus we have already have got good air lines so I don't really see the point.

divya · 7 years ago

I would ,if it does not cause much pollution.

claudine · 7 years ago

I wouldn’t because natural instinct is to take control. Machines easily have malfunctions as well.

dumplingpo · 7 years ago

***PLEASE PUT IN NEXT ISSUE OF FIRST NEWS***
I would definitely go in air travel taxi, I mean who wouldn't? There is a risk of falling out but that risk is a very low percentage.

firecharge · 7 years ago

It would be really cool to go into a flying taxi, but if it was hurting the environment i would think twise.

dashy17 · 7 years ago

I say Yes it's a great development in technology!!

catawesome · 7 years ago

Only if it was perfectly safe, though

popchip4 · 7 years ago

no one can predict the future but maybe

1isme · 7 years ago

It avoids traffic and would be great for views, so why not?

neenar · 7 years ago

yes it would be fun! no traffic

owly · 7 years ago

It sounds kinda creepy, and it seems very dangerous!

xoxemmadb · 7 years ago

i would depending on how it would affect the earth

hfrules · 7 years ago

Of course!!
:)!!

epicvader · 7 years ago

No, to many things could go wrong.

omnomnom · 7 years ago

We are just swallowing up greenhouse gases!

happy4456 · 7 years ago

I'm not really sure. Probably not though, because I never take taxi's anyway!!!

tdn · 7 years ago

yes because you can see over bildings

eeveepika · 7 years ago

I really would not, because although it would be a unique experience, I would be quite bothered if it polluted the planet, and the last thing this planet needs is more carbon dioxide and methane in the air.

smiley122 · 6 years ago

Hope it's safe but yeah I guess so..!?

Everest13 · 6 years ago

But I would wait a while so I know the tech is reliable. They shouldn't pollute the Earth as they will hopefully run on electricity, which is 100% clean if it is generated renewably. Hopefully soon the world will be 100% renewably powered.

zeushades8 · 6 years ago

Obviously ?!

gamerbug8 · 6 years ago

Never for two reasons
1. It’s dangerous plus I’m scared of heights
2.it would cause too much pollution

ki3ran · 6 years ago

I wouldn't mind. Lots fly on planes so...
There would be problems though such as illegal imports, some may know how long and complicated going through air security is and if we had to do that, the time saved by flying would be useless because time would be wasted on safety checks.

(I do not mind my opinion being posted on the first news newspaper. :-) )

heather · 6 years ago

That would be cool. :-)

ashelley · 6 years ago

that would be so cool!!!!!!!!

oceangirl · 6 years ago

Yes , unless it harms Earth ? or people or animals

charlton07 · 6 years ago

Yes, but he only question is that is it good for the planet. It might take up vigorously the risk of global warming

coder1234 · 6 years ago

i would. so long as I was NOT driving it :P

fly · 6 years ago

Why would anyone be so lazy

xyzman · 6 years ago

XYZMAN say ya because all flying stuff is #socool yo so gogoogogoogogoogogogogoogogog yaya whoop whoop woohoo

anna123 · 6 years ago

I said yes, I’m pretty sure they would have made sure it doesn’t pollute the earth. It probably wouldn’t fall out the sky either.

kitten6262 · 6 years ago

I oot of people would think it is just like an aeroplane when it actually is not . If you imagine one flying taxi thats ok but imagine 100 flying taxis crashing in to each other - it would be a disaster!!!!!!

cmi_hall · 6 years ago

It would be cool but there would be so much pollution so no?

pooemojie · 6 years ago

Yes but as long as it is safe doesn't pollute the earth and the sky's aren't bizzy.

bestdanfan · 6 years ago

yes

oceanorca1 · 6 years ago

I didn't vote but I think yes because it would be awesome and would help the progression of humanity but no because it would create a lot of pollution and wouldn't be very fuel efficient but the drone taxi YES it looks awesome

zeushades8 · 6 years ago

IF IT IS SAFE

zeushades8 · 6 years ago

TO DUMPLINGO

THE WEEK JUNIOR HAD IT ABOUT 8 WEEKS AGO . I READ BOTH.MAYBE YOU SHOULD

tennis08 · 6 years ago

Of course I would.

xmasfan · 6 years ago

Personally, I wouldn't. This may seem like a strange answer to some of you but this is my opinion. I have never 100% liked flying in aeroplanes but this may be unsafe as it would have to go really fast for us to get anywhere in under an hour.

laithaliza · 6 years ago

I actually would travel in a flying taxi but I pressed the wrong button

cubemaster · 6 years ago

Who wouldn't?

appleman · 6 years ago

if every one had a flying car the air would be sooooooo polluted and the skys would be clogged

appleman · 6 years ago

i agree sunglasses
#savaetheworld

(this is my new thing #)
use my #

popchip4 · 6 years ago

bellecat96 agreed

unidust · 6 years ago

I'D GET BLOOMIN' SICK!!!!!

redindian9 · 6 years ago

NO. CERTAINLY NOT.

kgrewal · 6 years ago

No, there is a very high risk of air crashes and it is harmful to the environment.

dude28899 · 6 years ago

that soundsEPICCC

matilda29 · 6 years ago

Maby it will be electric and won't pollute the earth?

RoseBun · 6 years ago

it would be cool and scientists would have checked if it was safe.

icecream2 · 6 years ago

#ace

amynatalie · 6 years ago

Nononononono never
SCARY

amynatalie · 6 years ago

And it's bad for the envronment

oceangirl · 6 years ago

It would be fun

kestj003.3 · 6 years ago

IT WOULD BE EPIC AND WAY WAY WAY QUICKER SO DEFINATLY YA

amberspell · 6 years ago

Yeah! Only then, there'll be much less time to watch a film, like in the plane... I bet it would cost a lot as well.

frogo45 · 6 years ago

How much air pollution ?

holholster · 6 years ago

I would definitely travel in a flying taxi, because it would move us around quicker, and it would be just like a plane, right?

shreddeddo · 6 years ago

if they could make without pollution then yes and I'm scared of heights? but that probably won't matter.

That's so cool? though so I voted yes

ansha007 · 3 years ago
