We’ll soon know the name of our Prime Minister for the next five years.
On top of the real election that’s been going on, thousands of First News readers took part in our very own Junior General Election. While voting, you left so many intelligent and thoughtful comments about the issues that matter most to you, which we will be passing on to the Prime Minister.
Lots of people in Parliament read First News, so we think they’ll be fascinated to read these messages from future voters. And they really should take notice, because many of you will be old enough to vote for real next time!
You can read all of the comments at first.news/generalelection.
Your thoughtful comments got us thinking; we want to know whether or not you think adults listen to what you say?

well i am in the middle. like for example, sometimes while adults are doing something and people g oup and say something to them they just murmer while they are mostly focused on the other thing they are doing like watching tv. however adults do listen and i think that they listen and try to help us.
shpee · 8 years ago
Yeah. Some don't, but I don't usually talk to them anyway.
shpee · 8 years ago
Also, Theresa May kind of shot herself in the foot because the tories don't have a majority now, lol.
maryam05 · 8 years ago
I am kind of in the middle some adults might listen but some might not, so i'm not voting 'cause I don't know what to put!!!!!
radishes10 · 8 years ago
Most of the time they just say I'm not old enough to have `proper opinions!'
poptyfan_ · 8 years ago
They say wow for me

LOL horray for the hung parlament
jennia · 8 years ago
adults sometimes ignore you when they're working but you must understand that they are working to earn money to help raise us up. my parents always listen to me and are very understanding.

Sometimes... But mostly no. I voted no.
sunglasses · 8 years ago
Adults often underestimate children and I don't think that's right. We should be treated the same way as adults, after all, we are the future generation. We should be the ones to vote as it's our future and we should make our own decisions. Adults could argue with that and say that we are to young and don't understand how supposedly 'important' these things are. Some of us are... stupid... but most of us are sensible and know what's right for ourselves. I mean, that's the government people, but yes my parents listen to what I say. My school definitely doesn't.

If anyone can think of a better word than stupid for my previous comment, please head your comment with #sunglasses

I'd agree with some of the others that sometimes adults listen and sometimes they don't, but I voted yes 'cos in my case most of the time adults listen to me.
Sashgirl06 · 8 years ago
I don't think adults always listen to what we say - a lot of them seem to think that just because they are older than us, they are better, and don't need to listen to our views, but people shouldn't be like that. We can show them respect, but they need to show children respect too, by listening to their opinions. Because the truth is, we may only be 24% of the population, but we're 100% of the future.
claudine · 8 years ago
Adults say children are our first priority. Then why don't they listen to us? After all, it's our future.
coolguy · 8 years ago
In the middle sometimes they don't and sometimes they do!!!???????????????????????????????☹️????????????
Wavybluexo · 8 years ago
They should listen to us because it is more our future than theirs !!!!'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???

It depends what adults they are and how well you know them because your parents will almost always listen to you but other adults might not care. Go Kids! We must be heard.
akurapaty · 8 years ago
Most the time?
banjoblaze · 8 years ago
Most adults listen to me however sometimes my mum just doesn't listen or argues with everything I say.
banjoblaze · 8 years ago
I think children should be listened to more, especially when we have opinions we are trying to convey.

joohyun56 · 8 years ago
conservatives only helped rich people and children wants adults to help the NHS, refugees, homeless people and schools! so that is why I chose no for this poll
joohyun56 · 8 years ago
But also other adults does listen to children
HHH · 8 years ago
I said no because there are a lot of people to listen to and everyone has a say 'am I right' and there are 2 sides of this situation 1:about 48% say yes and 52% say no 2: Because there are 2 sides there are two disitions to listen to and it is not about who win the vote it is about what is best for the country.

the only person I can talk to freely to is my grandma because my mum would just kick off and give me a lecture.

pugslup123 · 8 years ago
Not really...
riverdance · 8 years ago
They DONT. Believe me think of the stuff you want to happen how often does it happen? Though to be fair some adults do listen and try to make a difference but politics wise they don't even though we are the next generation. I think some don't listen to kids because its just that were "kids" Were children we get underrated being children but sometimes we are just as good as an adult or rarely better!

It is our future, our lives being affected, yet the elder generation who will soon depart get more say than us. Many secondary school children would make more responsible choices than many adults.
ZENCE40 · 7 years ago
Most of the adults that I live with listen to what I say
happy4456 · 7 years ago
I voted yes. I did this because.... i guess...... adults do listen to what we say, just not enough. It really does tick me off when they say "you're too young to understand"???
I know that i understand because I was brought up in the modern generation (the 21st century!!!). But they do listen..... most of the time.

I say no but then again it kind of depends on the subject. But I remember when my parents were discussing politics and I was in the room and said something and they didn't listen! They always say that we aren't old enough to have proper opinions and ideas! But sometimes in very unimportant discussions they might listen to you. (I agree with sunglasses #Sunglasses)
emperor · 7 years ago
Apparently, we just 'don't understand.' Thanks to First News, we understand very much so and it infuriates me that adults do not listen to us. Brexit only happened due to ignorance of our beliefs. The reason we still have tuition fees and hardly any funding for schools is because adults deem us as silly, irresponsible, inexperienced and too young. We are not too young. We are the future of this Earth and we deserve an equal say!

My parents don't always listen to what I say as I'm a bit of a chatterbox around them - although not with people I don't know. I'm not sure that Boris will listen all the time to children's voices. Our teachers in my school will always listen to me.
