IF you’re bored of beaches, caravans, hotels or ski slopes, how about a holiday 200 miles above Earth?
A new company called Orion Span is claiming that from 2022, people will be able to blast off to the “world’s first luxury space hotel” for a 12-day stay that “will change your life”.
It’ll also quite significantly change your bank balance, as the experience will cost a wallet-busting $9.5m (£6.7m) per person. But hey, you’ve got a few years to save up and check for the odd pound down the back of the sofa.
Anyone who does have a spare few million quid will get to experience an orbit of Earth every 90mins from their “luxurious accommodation”. But don’t think you’ll just be kicking back and enjoying the view – paying guests will still be expected to help carry out research experiments while on board.
“We’re not selling a ‘Hey, let’s go to the beach’ equivalent in space,” said Orion Span boss Frank Bunger. “We’re selling the experience of being an astronaut.”
