THE head of Ofsted, the Government’s school inspectors, says that primary-aged children shouldn’t have phones that can access the internet.
Amanda Spielman made the comments in an interview with the BBC and was asked about kids accessing adult content on the internet. She said she was “surprised” and “not comfortable” with kids that age having smartphones and going online whenever they like.
She added that it’s “not possible to totally control and contain adolescents’ [kids’] lives” but that more needs to be done to protect them.

Yes because my parents aren’t letting me have a phone until I’m 13 and we don’t want the nations children to get to addicted to technology. Unfortunately all my class are very much addicted. 😓

I wouldn't because sometimes you need it to contact your parents say your bus has broken down or if you need to tell then you need extra lunch money on your lunch card.
And it's slightly bias telling kids not to have it when a lot of our homework and school news comes through an app you have to have on your phone

I do not think primary children should be able to have a phone until they are in secondary school. Having a phone at the age from 4 to 11 could expose children to websites and videos that are inappropriate and should not see.

if someone needs an phone they should start of with a phone that can only text and call.
nobody should be exposed to social media, tiktok and everything else as it is destructive at a young age

If they aren’t out in lessons there is no problem and if someone was told they needed to walk home by themselves because their siblings were sick then they could be waiting for ages if they didn’t have one.

I feel like a lot of young kids get really addicted to phones and think that it's "cool" but when you start to be on your phone and internet more than you do other things in life you enjoy then it's not healthy. Primary school children who have to travel a bit to get to school should have phones though.

I’m in middle school and everyone in me class has a phone and I’m in year five!! I dont think it is ok for primary children though as they’re to young to properly understand the dangers of the internet
