MATT Hancock has faced lots of criticism after appearing on reality TV show, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The MP stunned his fellow campmates when he turned up, with several asking why he was in the Australian jungle and not at work back in the UK.

Hancock, who used to be the health secretary, said he’s doing the programme to show people a different side to him, as well as raise awareness of dyslexia. He also said he wanted ‘a bit of forgiveness’ for breaking social distancing rules during lockdown.

Some viewers were angry at the remarks, especially when they had stuck to the rules. They say Hancock shouldn’t take part in the show when the rest of Parliament is still at work. But he seems to be winning some people round. What do you think?

The parliament is working and he’s on vacation? It’s ok to have fun but how can the government expect us to follow social distancing rules if they won’t?!

No he's not a popular celebrity he is a politician - not even a good one.

I think so

He’s in Australia and having a fun time, and they’re working back in the UK!! That’s just selfish of him.

He has been chosen to help run a country, not mess around on reality tv in a jungle on the other side of the world.

If he is trying to recover his reputation, then forget it. My mum is a doctor and she says that he is terrible.

I think everyone in I'm a celebrity is judging him for the past, I think what happened in parliament stays in parliament.

It’s a good show and I think it would be nice to have Matt Hancock on it

This was a highly irresponsible move,as the British government and economy is facing crisis should it be right that he isn't working whilst all help is needed to stabilise the economy.

No of course not. Why should he get to go to Australia when the rest of us have to work in England. He is meant to be a rule maker not a rule breaker.

pikagirl44 · 2 years ago

He should have a way to prove himself, but breaking social distancing rules was against the law at the time so he shouldn't go back to being the west Suffolk MP, even if he does prove himself

ameliawolf · 2 years ago

No because while the government are trying to get everyone out of the major crisises he just decides to take a little vacation across the world to Australia thinking he's doing the right thing and if he was a hypocrite he could easily be a hypocrite again. Rule makers aren't rule breakers he shouldn't be an MP. Although you should give everyone second chances as well , we are all human but he should have thought about his actions before putting England through it.

Although Matt Hancock has been receiving some criticism, he is a celebrity and the show welcomes celebrities so he should be allowed too.

How is it fair that he left the country in pieces, broke his own rules, and now he gets to be a ´celebrity’ (which is a FAMOUS person like a singer, but not for ruining lives!) on some tv show when everyone is working hard back in Britain! Although, he does want forgiveness, so you gotta give him something for trying!

scarlet10 · 2 years ago

so he's doing it to get people to like him again.that isn't the point of the show it isn't about the 'likes'

xxxsunny · 2 years ago

Yes because it helps shows that even though you have autism you can do anything 🙃🙃

NO! MPs are NOT celebrities. They are part of parliament, serving our country.

max1234 · 2 years ago

He’s a politician, not a CELEB. If he was on, why isn’t any other politician on? Because they are hard-working, not a literal have-fun-but-never-work person!

cosimaiw · 2 years ago

No because whilst it’s okay to have fun he is not doing us any favours

You guys are being way to harsh on him. He is a HUMAN BEING . People make mistakes . So what if he isn’t popular it is his decision and not yours. How would you guys feel if people from your own country hated you and said rude things. How would you feel if you couldn’t make your own choices. He chose to go on I’m a celeb and that is HIS CHOICE. Ye he broke rules but think about other people who broke rules as well it’s wasn’t just him ok. He is human we all make mistakes and why can’t you just rise above it and give him a chance. He is on I’m a celeb because of the British. If people didn’t judge him then he would’ve of been in England . He wanted to go on that show to show people that he isn’t just a rule breaker. And this just proves something to you . He came 3 rd on that show so that just shows that you guys just hate him . Imagine how many people voted for him . I’m not saying he is perfect but he deserves a 2nd chance.
