Oxfam International wants the world’s richest countries to help feed hungry people by cutting the amount they spend on their military.
The charity says that the G7 – a group of seven countries from across the world including the UK – combined spent $1,232 billion (£972.1 billion) on their military in 2023.
By donating just $31.7 billion (£25 billion) and by wiping out a $4 billion debt poorer countries owe the richer countries, Oxfam says there would be an end to hunger around the world, which affects more than 281 million people.
