SKYE, a ten-year-old girl from Fairbourne in Gwynedd, has proved again that just one small person can make a big difference!
Two weeks ago, we told you about Skye’s campaign to ditch the cheap plastic toys that are given away with lots of kids’ magazines. She had her first big result last week, when supermarket chain Waitrose said that it would stop selling magazines with throwaway toys on the cover.
“While we know these magazines are popular with children, some of the unnecessary plastic attached to them has become really excessive,” Waitrose said.
“I think it’s a shame publishers have to be told what they are doing is wrong,” Skye told The Guardian newspaper. “It would be good if they took it seriously without having to be told by ten-year-olds like me.”
