Would you be prepared to be an organ donor?

THE donated organs from one 13-year-old girl have helped to save the lives of a record number of people, according to NHS Blood And Transplant.
The astonishing record was revealed during Organ Donation Week, which aims to highlight the problem of a lack of organ donors.
When people die, if their organs are healthy they can be used to save the lives of people who need a transplant. When Jemima Layzell died of a brain aneurysm (a bulge in a blood vessel), her organs saved eight lives, including those of five children. Her heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and pancreas were all used, as well as her small bowel. Her kidneys went to two different people and her liver was split in two so that two patients could benefit from it.
NHS records show that 35,707 people have donated their organs, but none saved as many lives as Jemima. Many people find the conversation about donation uncomfortable, but it is important because it saves lives.
The NHS’s Anthony Clarkson says: “If you are unsure, ask yourself: if you needed a transplant, would you accept one? If so, shouldn’t you be prepared to donate?”

I know it sounds really bad, but i don't want to be a donor. I love helping people but not in such an 'operative' way. Also, I pray that I'm going to die anytime soon??
grace27 · 7 years ago
For me,I would find it hard to suddenly do such a thing but I will help others in any way I can.
genji2048 · 7 years ago
if i can not use those organs anymore and i can save lives, i would not think twice.
gaggy116 · 7 years ago
yes! i mean it won't affect me cos i'll be dead, but it could mean the difference between life and death for someone else, so why on earth wouldn't i?
banjoblaze · 7 years ago
I might when I die, unless there is a better cause for my organs to go towards.
dolphindm · 7 years ago
If my organs are not useful to me anymore I would definitely donate them.
jackspicha · 7 years ago

norensanz · 7 years ago
it will be nice to see my self in another person
Umbrella4 · 7 years ago
I said No it might not sound nice but i don't really want to lose one of my organs...
Umbrella4 · 7 years ago
Except i would if i was dead but i'm not planning on dying anytime soon.
newsboy9 · 7 years ago
I think we should because you're helping people who could die otherwise.
Sashgirl06 · 7 years ago
I don't want to be selfish and I can understand why some people would be an organ donor, but I don't think I could do it myself.
absdancerx · 7 years ago
I put yes because if I am dead then what use are my organs to me anyway. I'd much rather give people my organs then just have them left rotting around inside my dead body
endodragon · 7 years ago
i would like to save lives but i don't want to lose an organ.
endodragon · 7 years ago
oops i put two messages :(
bigdream · 7 years ago
I would say yes because my dad is a doctor and it would be nice for the NHS so say yes to it ]
bellecat96 · 7 years ago
When I die, I won't need my organs anymore, it won't hurt to give someone else a chance of survival. It would be harsh denying someone that chance, and it would be the right thing to do.
horsefan · 7 years ago
If you're saving lives, then there's no question to whether I would donate an organ
horsefan · 7 years ago
Definitely YES
horsefan · 7 years ago
I don't know why people wouldn't want to donate organs as you are saving lives
horsefan · 7 years ago
'One person saved 8 lives- surely you would be prepared to save lives
x-trax · 7 years ago
Actually, i would vote yes but only if I am about to die though. The news of the girl who donated her organs to eight people is really important. It was very kind of the girl to do it and it was good to know that she saved a number of lives. I would as many lives are more important than just one.
oliverj · 7 years ago
I would only ever be prepared to be an organ donor if it was life and death situation. For any other reason, I would be totally unprepared, and if I didn't, I wouldn't forgive my self for a long time.❤️?
woof04 · 7 years ago
I would be because I'll be dead and won't need them anymore, and as long as I can still have a burial I don't mind, I'd be happy because I'd be helping others!
thegunners · 7 years ago
jachspicka if you watched the game yesterday I think youll know whos better......
Tibeau2005 · 7 years ago
I say yes. We need more people willing to be an organ donor. Why not? I mean people need these organs, and you won't be here to see it. I can understand why people may not, though. Some may want to be buried or cremated rather than be used as a donor, while others don't like the idea of it. I used to think that, but I would be happy dying knowing that my body was going to a good cause. (Sorry for ranting! :D)
popchip4 · 7 years ago
not sure?! probably not
popchip4 · 7 years ago
i wouldnt rlly want someone having all my insides thank you very much
popchip4 · 7 years ago
but it is kind
flameemily · 7 years ago
I would because it is can save someone's life, I would also be prepared to donate my organs to medical research if I died of something like cancer.
redted03 · 7 years ago
I will be a donor anyway as I live in Wales
dancemunch · 7 years ago
When they are no use to me they will still be very important to others in need. This is a life and death situation.
lolnews · 7 years ago
I said no. I know it is a life saving situation but I am a bit uncomfortable about organ donation. The reason why I said no is because when I die, I don't want anyone taking out my organs. I just want to be peaceful up there in heaven
ernie4545 · 7 years ago
if it was to save lives then yes yes I would
klovell · 7 years ago
if it would save a life then i would be happy to do it
queenwhale · 7 years ago

izzy_xxxxx · 7 years ago
I want to help people as much as I can when I'm alive. If I can continue doing that when I'm dead, then that's amazing. ?
cheesy · 7 years ago
Lets save other people!
claudine · 7 years ago
When I'm dead I won't feel it. Someone will benefit so of course yes
sanjanak · 7 years ago
yes because it is so important to care other about people you might not even know . And one of the easiest way to do it is to is to give away something that you do not at all means need when you are dead. just think, someone so close to death and suddenly you give a transplant and save them.
cooledie · 7 years ago
yes, because if it means I could help people and save their lives, definitely!
smiley122 · 7 years ago
I think it's a great thing to do so totally yeah
zeushades8 · 7 years ago
Of course not!
ki3ran · 7 years ago
When I die, sure, I don't really care what's done to my body, as long as you don't do anything stupid to it.
(I don't mind my opinion being posted in your magazine first news.)

coolguy · 7 years ago
Yes because I would be dead I wouldn’t need them and I’d save lives I would be a bit selfish not to
catawesome · 7 years ago
If I'm in heaven or whatever comes after death i doubt I'll need my organs
vertigo · 7 years ago
Somehow I struggle with seeing a dead me on an operation table, some doctor taking out my liver and giving it to some random person. I know I should gladly donate all my resources to other people's health, but I'll only let doctors give my organs to other people over my dead body! (No pun intended).
kkdude9 · 7 years ago
Defoe it would save someone's life
myrtle10 · 7 years ago
If I died and my organs were healthy, I would be willing to give them to others. (Not that I'd have the choice, I'd be dead)
myrtle10 · 7 years ago
Also, saving lives is great
t.coulth · 7 years ago

pooemojie · 7 years ago
When people die you won't be able to feel anything so why not donate an organ?
oceanorca1 · 7 years ago
i think yes because it will help other people once I have died I won't need it but other people will need it and it might mean the difference of life and death for them
gavriella · 7 years ago
I would definitely want to donate an organ and save lives
PinaEgg123 · 7 years ago
I really don't mean any offense whatsoever, but if you are dead already, your organs won't be of use, so if it can save a life, I would say YES immediately without even thinking!
ps4kid · 7 years ago
Organ donation are really important since it can save lives.
redindian9 · 7 years ago
i dunno ill be dead when i do so i wont need em.
redindian9 · 7 years ago
i said yes :D
kgrewal · 7 years ago

holholster · 7 years ago
Sorry, but I wouldn't be prepared to become an Organ Donor. This is because I don't like the idea of donating my organs to random strangers.
lilpenguin · 6 years ago
