The only reason I go on my phone/computer for more than 2 hours is because there's nothing to do where I live. I find walks boring because I've seen around where I live millions of times, the park nearby has nothing except some exercise equipment that gets boring in 5 seconds and a play area that I'm too tall to have any fun on and I'm not really friends with anyone who is my age where I live. The only thing to do is cycle. That's it.

I mean why not play football or do something more social, interact with the world around you.

I have a lot of SAT revision apps on my phone and I spend at least half of the time I spend on my phone on those apps. I need to revise as I'm in year 6 and have the SATs soon.

I do not have a smartphone and in many ways are glad I don't. I realise that I could get addicted so when I do get a phone I will be very careful.

I probably spend about an hour on mine per day. But then we are allowed to use them at school and sometimes in lessons for research. I don't just sit on it for ages though.

I think that children should be allowed a limted amount of time on their smartphones.

I have a phone, but the main reason I use it is to keep contact with everyone, I don't see how someone can get addicted to a phone, but it's their choice. Anyone can stop being addicted ,by asking for help and doing lots of different things to stop them from becoming more addicted to their electrical device.

I don't have one either, but I have an iPad which probably counts. I spend about an hour on it most days, but am trying to decrease the amount of time.

I don't need one. I can last more than a year without one, but I have my own.

I spend around 30 minutes a day on my phone although I do not have any games I just use it for research and watching.

Catapult's mum -Being a mum of three lovely and lively children I do try to let them enjoy plenty of outdoor activities like bushcraft (firelighting, foraging and whittling), interesting walks where we can identify the birds, butterflies, pond creatures, let them make dens, get mucky and muddy in all weathers. We have bought light weight hammocks and tarps for shelters (the kids carry these on our weekend/holiday walks) and enjoy camping. We let children have a restricted amount of screen time which is never enough. I would probably admit to obsessively checking my phone for emails/messages too! It is a tricky problem.
I was upset with my son wanting to play on his phone when we were due to have special mummy time. It has been a great opportunity for him to talk about what's going on in his life.

I just read a great book. hey, guys if u think books r boring try the book called "jacky ha-ha," by James Patterson- its amazing! i would say a book is greater than a phone, hey, feel free to change my opinion but a phone has many dangers but a book can make you go on an adventure.

I personally think that reading and playing outside are much better than phones because it's so nice to get stuck into a good book and it's such fun playing outside,making den's,doing sports. ect.????⛅?

The only reason I am on my phone for an hour is because it is my reward for doing my 11+ practice papers (not that i don't enjoy them)...I do them for an hour and then phone for an hour-not all at once. My parents are also divorced so i miss them when i am at the other's house ;););)

Generally I spend an hour but that's only because I need to text my parents or friends for something however I sometimes spend longer if I'm playing a game ????????

cattapult's mum , why don't you tell how you feel to your children. let them know that family is more important than anything ( especially phones). do the things that they used to love you doing.

but don't do it in front of their friends because that can go to a whole new level;)

I spend an hour or more on my phone. Sometimes probadly more than two hours? I don't know. Is that bad? I do lots of sports and do all my homework beforehand so then I have free time on my phone. I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it though. .??

Personally, I don't spend much time on my phone, an hour a day at most, but unfortunately, I have friends that are on their phone whenever they get the chance. I also think it's shocking when children aged 7 own phones, as I didn't get mine until I was 11, going into comp.

It really depends on what you are doing online, if you are playing games online, or on social media, then your time should be limited, but some people like to watch the news, or read educational articles online, and that isn't something to hold back from children.

I do not own a smart phone or mobile device as it can distract me from more important things like reading and studying for when I go to secondary school.

My parents limit me to 1/2 hour on my iPad on aschool day and a hour at the weekend. I barely wever spend that much on it. I use our computer

Less than ten minutes because my smartphone is not smart. It is really bad. There are no games. I think people should not look at phones when walking round town because they could get run over. My friend almost got hit by a car once because he didn't look.
