We should learn about where meat comes from at school, cos we should know what we are eating, and be aware that cows, pigs and many other animals are raised for slaughter, not happiness.

Why would we not learn about something most of us do every day? They serve us meat at school and some parents will buy it from the supermarkets. We should know exactly what happens to our food: how it gets onto our plates

DEFINITELY! Learning about where your food comes from is actually very interesting, and I think all schools should keep pigs! I personally think it's a bit daft that they made the pigs be returned to their owners instead of being slaughtered, because that's what all the other farms do.

I think so. Personally, I think we should also Learn about some of the symbols on food (like the red tractor one) and what 'free range' means for things like eggs, not just where meat comes from. We should really learn where food comes from in general in my opinion. It might be helpful for people when they maybe want to make a diet that has a low environmental impact or something and would just be good information to have.

Why should children who are vegetarian learn about meat? They have made the choice not to eat meat. Maybe the people who do eat eat meat could learn though.

U should be able to learn about pigs and meat because it is your right to learn and u should not let people stand in your way of learning. The school was very lucky to have pigs because not many schools have that opportunity

I entirely agree what snoggynando said. Personally I am peskitarien (I can't spell) which is when you eat fish and not meat.

I am in two minds about this, so here they are.
I do think that people should be able to know where their food comes from, and to know what they are eating.
However, many thoughts put people off foods, like black pudding or haggis. Also, I don’t think kids should watch the animals getting killed, but they can still learn where the meat comes from.

If we are eating it why should we not know were it comes from it is like the teachers not telling you were carrots come from

I said no because I think the majority of children should know that pork comes from a pig e.t.c. If they don’t then their parents need to go through it not the school as some people met be uncomfortable with doing so

I put yes because if you don't know where it's coming from, you can't decide whether or not to stop eating it. Vegetarians are only vegetarians because they KNOW where the meat is coming from. I think the pigs should be killed because otherwise children will not know where there meat comes from. If they are in Ks1 they might not understand that meat comes from a living animal. I understand that showing animals being killed can cause disagreement but I think by showing the children how the meat gets put on their plate will teach them not to eat meat instead of that meat is fine to eat.
