Is your school holding a Look Up! assembly?

Every week last year, 88 children were hurt when hit by cars while crossing UK streets.

Tragically, 26 of those children each week – nearly a whole class – were killed or received life-changing injuries.

There are a growing number of reports showing that being distracted by phones is linked to a number of pedestrian accidents.

That’s why September is First News’ Look Up! month, when we remind you of the importance of looking up, and putting your phone away, when walking across roads.

We want every school across Britain to hold a Look Up! assembly this September, using our free assembly pack (teachers, see below).

You’ll also find a fun activity to design road safety posters to put up around your school.

Show your teacher – it could save a friend.
