Lots of futuristic sci-fi films imagine humans locked in a battle for survival against super-advanced robots, but maybe all they really want to do is dance!

A Chinese street dancer and sci-fi fan named Wu Yufei last week reached the grand final of America’s Got Talent with a squad of ten dancing robots.

Wu spent months practising his kung fu-inspired routines with the robots and said they aren’t just “cold, lifeless machines”. He told AFP: “It almost feels as if there’s a kind of team spirit there.”

After their performance, judge Sofia Vergara said: “It scares me, I forget that they’re robots!” Fellow judge KSI quipped: “As long as robots are just taking over the dance floor, I’m happy!”

The cyber squad beat acts including singers, acrobats and comedians to reach the final. However, Nene Royal, a 16-year-old female rock singer from Thailand, won the show. Call it a reminder to any robot that starts getting smart ideas about world domination – don’t mess with kids!
