September is First News’ Look Up! month – our campaign to warn you of the dangers of crossing the road while looking at your phone.

Road accidents are one of the main reasons that young people die. Government figures show that 4,577 pedestrians, aged 15 and under, were hurt on UK roads in 2023.

Tragically, 1,340 of those were either killed or left with serious, life-changing injuries.

It’s important to always Look Up! while crossing the road – do you pledge to do this?

A LOOK UP! ASSEMBLY IN EVERY SCHOOL!

First News has created a free Look Up! assembly pack for every school so you remember to put down your phones.

In this pack, you’ll also find a fun activity to design road safety posters to put up around your school.

We’d love to see some of your creations! Send them to us at: [email protected] and you could feature in the paper!

Teachers – For the assembly pack, head to first.news/lookupteachers.
