IT’S been a Bad Week for Authors!

A group called Botnik claims to have produced the world’s first bedtime story written by artificial intelligence (AI), after training the AI with the works of the Brothers Grimm. The AI still needs a little help from some human writers to piece the bits of the story together, but could AI authors soon write on their own?

Would you be happy for AI to write the books you read?

Never!! That would be creepy plus they would just copy stories that human authors had already written!! No thanks!!

ceejay101 · 6 years ago

Maybe. It would depend how good they are, and I personally love specific authors so only if they were the same style.

jaguar119 · 6 years ago

No because I like it when real people write books frome their real imaginatiins! Also, I want to be an author when I grow up, and I don't want AI writing books instead of me!

icestarz · 6 years ago

No because there wouldn't as much choice for the style of writing and you might not be able to get books by real life authors.

firefox24 · 6 years ago

No way. I like to know that real humans put their knowledge and time into writing a good book.

hobbes123 · 6 years ago

Noooooooooooooooooo?????????❌❌❌❌❌❌?
Because authors have imagination and robots obviously don't!!!!!!?

dude28899 · 6 years ago

No way, since the ideas aren't going to be very good as the robot doesn't have feelings.

fantastict · 6 years ago

No! That'll just be the next step for robots to take over the world!

sethini · 6 years ago

Though it would be cool that AI tech is that advanced, it would be one step closer to them taking over all our jobs - making us lazy. It is also nice to enjoy SOMEONE else's work.

sisterocks · 6 years ago

Unless authors programme the AI/robots ? to write the books ? that they write for a faster ? result then yes, but if AI/robots ? are writing ✍? them somehow, the no.

catiebug11 · 6 years ago

Wow, to know that AI writes my books, it's just... wow... no! You can be inspired by writers, but not robots! >:( !!!!!!!
Like, " I want to be just like J.K Rowling! " or... "I want to be just like my favorite... uhh, robot?'' It's not the same!!

mcmonkey · 6 years ago

No! There is no imagination in programming, no love and no passion! What would they put on the front cover of the book for the author's name? R2-D2?!

marz.smile · 6 years ago

No that might be a bit weird as they copy stories authors have written with their imagination. ?

shreddeddo · 6 years ago

No way! robots would do a bad job writing books.

natalija · 6 years ago

I would not want Artificial intelligence to write books because, even after training, they would not have as much imagination as humans.

ayms · 6 years ago

No! I prefer real people's imaginations rarther than AI. Robots don't have the same creativity than humans. Robots are taking over many people's jobs which may increase poverty.

cmi_hall1 · 6 years ago

YES I would let them write stories for me!!!
What the harm in that???

astro_girl · 6 years ago

Maybe-
I would like for AI to read some of the books that we read but for people to do the rest because AI doesn't have emotions so it can't write a good book but I am willing to give it a chance

snufflypug · 6 years ago

Soon the whole world will be ruled by robots and authors will keep on writing

snufflypug · 6 years ago

Robots don't have any imagination and no emotions. Authors pour all of that into their books

bobfm · 6 years ago

I would not mind I mean if the books were rubbish then no but I would let them write a book for me but only one problem what about authors?

jimmybob · 6 years ago

definately not.
That would make books much less interesting as you wouldn't have the authors imagination and ideas in the book. it would put me off reading.

RoseBun · 6 years ago

it wouldn't have the same qualities a book has like authors have a love for writing and put effort into books whereas no effort would go into those books at all. Plus, it would put authors out of a job

rivalgamer · 6 years ago

No, I wouldn't because artificial intelligence would only be able to write books that are as good as it's programmed to, but a real auther can use his/her imagination to think of new ideas.

jaboyth · 6 years ago

I would read a few of the books to see if they are good, the make my mind up.

sinister50 · 6 years ago

Personally, I think no after all computers can't think for themselves and have no imagination!

newsacc · 6 years ago

I think that it would be unfair on authors because they might lose their jobs to a computer.

absdancerx · 6 years ago

Maybe. Yes because the world is constantly revolutionising and I think this would be the next step. No, because of AI don't use proper sentence structure when talking so would the stories really make sense. Also if that happens my dream of becoming an author would never amount.

absdancerx · 6 years ago

Maybe. Yes because the world is always revolutionising and I feel like this is the next step. No, because when AI speak they don't use proper sentence structure so would the sentences make sense? Also me, and many other people, who want to become authors when we are old enough to have a job would not get to pursue our dreams.

ananyaa21 · 6 years ago

I think it is much better to have real people writing these books instead of robots. We need to appreciate all the real authors, and enjoy their books.

ananyaa21 · 6 years ago

I think it is much better to have real people writing these books instead of robots. We need to appreciate all the real authors, and enjoy their books

60creator · 6 years ago

Yes, if they are good I don’t mind. A book is a book.

bouncy123 · 6 years ago

No because it's cheating for the authour to do that!!!!

jake10 · 6 years ago

I would want them to because they could be programmed with human ideas and write a story about them

wisecat652 · 6 years ago

While it would be a bit creepy to read books written by a robot, as long as it’s good, a book’s a book!

ninjawiz10 · 6 years ago

NEVER!!!!! having robots writing our books NEVER EVER HAPPENING. I like Humans better!!!!!

aamzaf · 6 years ago

No! They might include words that are hard to understand

prince17 · 6 years ago

No it's just not the same writing stories is all about using your imagination and unless that's now a programme that you can install in a robot then I don't think it's the same. I mean I don't think a robot can become the next JK Rowling.

smilebunny · 6 years ago

No way! Authors spend so much time putting love and care into their books. AI definitely doesn't! Plus, i am so desperate to become an author so I don't want AI doing it instead!

pandaray10 · 6 years ago

DEFINETLY NOT! People are still oblivious to how robots could take over the world, and having their own 'imagination' can give them ideas to do that. Besides, it's just a gimmick to get money. And it just puts authors out of business.

guest_8133 · 6 years ago

Maybe because I would like to see it happen but I like human books because they really match the author’s personality And computers don’t have personalitys

kfcfanboy · 6 years ago

Yes... I never really think about the author of it when i'm reading a book and i think AI could make books that are just as good or if not better

coolio99 · 6 years ago

Yes because a computer/robot can think faster than a human brain per second; so it can think of more ideas to create other stories that humans may not have thought of!

catsrcute6 · 6 years ago

No! Authors like Jeff Kinney, Dav Pilkey are great authors and if AI took over, authors would become more un-popular! I love to read a good Diary of a Wimpy Kid book without AI taking over!

sambrophy · 6 years ago

I don't think AI should write books because the human mind will always be more intelligent than a computer.

explorer12 · 6 years ago

No,because all authors have unique writing skills and it would be boring to read dull stories written by robots.

darjap · 6 years ago

I disagree with the fact that AI will be writting books since a computer does not have as much imagination as a human.

elephant99 · 6 years ago

No because if authors were taken over by robots lots of people would lose their jobs and we wouldn’t have proper books. :-(

j-dancing · 6 years ago

No because a robot doesn't have the same imagination has a human does

koalalover · 6 years ago

No because i like to think that somebody has actually taken the time to write it.
Also I think if it did start to happen authors would lose their job.

buddyboi · 6 years ago

In my opinion it'd be pretty cool to see what robots might be able come up with. Although, robots don't have feelings, so it's pretty unlikely that they'll have an imagination...

bubbles36 · 6 years ago

No! The best books are written with real emotion. I worry that the imagination and feeling will be gone if we let artificial intelligence write stories.

bonjour · 6 years ago

No. I think that if young people like us want to be authors, but AI are writing them it would stop children from living that dream because AI are taking over the writing world.

nightwing7 · 6 years ago

No! Stories should be written by creative human beings, not previously set algorithms.

superspy11 · 6 years ago

Absolutely not! Books are about real people portraying the world in their minds to everyone else. Not something that is completely fake.

Magic10 · 6 years ago

Definitely not! I want to be an author, and I don’t want AI taking over this profession!

unidist · 6 years ago

creepy.....

yath-yath · 6 years ago

No, because if AI would be taking jobs from humans have already excellent authors, such as David Walliams and Jacqueline Wilson, and robots have no imagination.

legoben200 · 6 years ago

Of course AI should not write books! It sucks all the fun out of the books!

ollasherwo · 6 years ago

Maybe, I might like it if the books were actually good. But I wouldn't really mind

melon_cow7 · 6 years ago

NO WAY!!!! a: it’s taking away people’s jobs and b: It wouldn’t be as good because it’s not using real life experiences because most books are written are to do with that

unicorn746 · 6 years ago

No because AI doesn't have the imagenery human authors have.

thomass10 · 6 years ago

humans have to program them so in a way a human is the author

tunafish · 6 years ago

Definitely I would as long as the book has the same detail and emotion I think it would be interesting to compare the two.

newsedit · 6 years ago

Maybe. I don’t see a problem with AIs writing; as long as the book is interesting it doesn’t matter who or what wrote it.

myndamdro · 6 years ago

They would lack emotional content

lavender08 · 6 years ago

What makes books fun to read is having a specific style. I love reality books and it wouldn't feel real if I knew it was written by a robot.

ewildhorse · 6 years ago

That would just be sad, all our authors work so hard and spend months writing the books for our enjoyment, an atificial intellegense will just do it but personally I like books with feeling, thta sometime has worked at for ages.

raegoer · 6 years ago

No! I would not like a robot to write books because, as a semi-author, I know the amount of hard work and effort that only real people can put in.

emperor · 6 years ago

Obviously not because of all the reasons already mentioned

FNFan · 6 years ago

as long as it is a good book I would read it

aim123 · 6 years ago

NO!! artificial intelligence is not the same as a real auther who knows how to express their thoughts and feelings in a book

hermionemw · 6 years ago

I don't want robots to write us stories because they won't be able to feel the way the characters doto discribe it. I LOVE books and feel that authors who are people would be better. ? ?

pengwin325 · 6 years ago

No thanks!!!!! It would be really weird having a book with WRITTEN BY A ROBOT on the cover.

emiliano · 6 years ago

I love books and It would put peoples job in threat such as big personalities.

newslove97 · 6 years ago

No, it is just unfair to the writers. We should stop making advancements and not make AI our priority.

monty123z · 6 years ago

Robots can only do labour jobs, never let them take a job when they have to use their knowledge.

skate · 6 years ago

no chance!

yllom · 6 years ago

No it would be weird!!!!!!!!

gullupuppy · 6 years ago

NEVER! I enjoy books that are written by REAL people. Not robots. AL would just ruin my vibe of reading.

bigfatcat · 6 years ago

NO WAY!!!!!!!!! What a terrible waste of technology, it’s a robot! Authors put hard work and feelings into their stories but these AI things don’t even have feelings, fair enough they can write a story but you wouldn’t really feel touched when you read it would you?

daisy101 · 6 years ago

I wouldn't mind if I didn't know AI had written it as long as it can contain the emotions human writers can give books.

firegirl16 · 6 years ago

No way! Authors work soooo hard and write amazing books. AI will just spoil their efforts and take over

popcorn10 · 6 years ago

Maybe-I wouldn't mind as long as they're good books which we would enjoy reading!

popcorn10 · 6 years ago

Maybe-I wouldn't mind as long as they're good books which we would enjoy reading!

legend2258 · 6 years ago

it would be practically the same

sisi · 6 years ago

Nope. I don't think that having ALIENS write our books would be creepy and a little weird. No, thank you.

buster_08 · 6 years ago

Yes, I think since children are always on their electronic devices they forget about books, so for it to be seen, I think it's a great idea!

Fificrab · 6 years ago

I don’t mind and I actually think that having a robot write a story for you is cooler!❄️

azure000 · 6 years ago

No!!!! I think that real-life authors have their own touch and if all the books were written by AI there would be nothing unique.

unicorn248 · 6 years ago

NEVER as i want to become an author when im older and that would ruin my dream job.

cords9 · 6 years ago

Human writers are so mush better because they actually feel what is happening in the book and sometimes even experience it themselves. What could AI write about , I worked in a factory?

holholster · 6 years ago

I wouldn't like to read books that are written by robots, as their ideas won't be as original as what human authors can think of. Also, it would be kind of disturbing if you ask me!

Pumpkin31 · 6 years ago

It brings so much more into the book if it's an author who writes it.

sophia6 · 6 years ago

No way.I prefer books to be written by authors because they could have a meaning behind that character .Also Iwant to be an author when I'm older.

xcurlysuex · 6 years ago

No, because i really want to be an author when i grow up. The stories that robots write can't possibly be good as humans have feelings and comminucate this through the book while robots wouldn't know how to describe how the character is feeling. They would write 'They were sad' While a human would write 'They were extremely upset with how things turned out and put a protest out'

rideboy · 6 years ago

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rideboy · 6 years ago

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

h@rry679 · 6 years ago

Humanity is superior to all animal species and ANYTHING we create because we imagine. Authors fashion fictional worlds for the enjoyment of others from their imagination. It looks like Botnik simply has no imagination.

h@rry679 · 6 years ago

@xcurlysuex YES

oceangirl5 · 6 years ago

What????!!!!!! NEVER IN ALL OF ETERNITY!!! Authors like JK Rowling put YEARS into their book series!
It would be cruel to those authors!!!!

draco · 6 years ago

they could write a story that is scary for younger children because the robot might not know about feelings☹️☹️☹️

ciarza123 · 6 years ago

It would be totally weird and super creepy!

JacobD · 6 years ago

robots are invading our jobs!!! P.S they will take over the world.

hej · 6 years ago

?!????????????????????

ali450 · 6 years ago

I would like to be an author when I am older - and AI can't dig deep into people's emotions!

cloudysky · 6 years ago

I would not want AI to write the books that I like to read because I like to write stories and if AI did it, it would take that opportunity away from me. I think that Authors will probably put more description into the stories so that you can imagine it better but AI wouldn't because it is just a computer .

piggycow1 · 6 years ago

No, Authors come in all different types and if a robot wrote it there would almost always be the same style of writing which would be boring.

hc-524219 · 6 years ago

I don’t because, any day, artificial intelligence may take over control of human life and kill people. That actually may become true ya know. So if someone rich bought a robot to read their books for them, I don’t think that will be a very good idea.

mollyboo8 · 5 years ago

No because real people have feelings but things like robots don't, which means humans can put more detail into books than A.L. (Artificial Intelligence.)

jedigeorge · 5 years ago

no it leaves less jobs for people to do

hector7 · 5 years ago

Only if it knows it all!

mollyboo8 · 4 years ago

no cos they dont have any feelings

panda89 · 3 years ago

This is actually rlly hard! I mean I think I would be fine to read a book by AI I think buuuut when I’m older I might want 2 be an author and if AI wrote books I wouldn’t get that opportunity.
