Research shows us that there has been a big rise in online searches for βeco-anxietyβ between 2018 and 2023.
This is the worry that people have about climate change and the damage happening to our environment.
However, there are lots of positive changes we can make to help tackle environmental problems.
Education is important in understanding the positive work we can do. Try doing your own research, or asking your teacher to set time aside for reading lessons onΒ the benefits of preserving forests, for example.
Or maybe maths lessons can be based around temperature and sea level changes.
It’s important to try and turn that feeling of powerlessness into hopefulness and action. In fact, the skills we need to cope with eco-anxiety are strongly linked with what we need to learn to live well in general.
We need to understand that while things aren’t right, they can always get better. This can start with small actions that we take, like always recycling and reusing things that don’t need to be thrown away.
