Walking 7,000 steps a day could be enough to protect you against serious diseases, says a new study.

We often hear that you should walk for 10,000 steps a day, but researchers have found that even just 7,000 can help to cut your risk of getting serious health problems, and can also boost your brainpower.

The findings, published in the Lancet Public Health, could encourage more people to get out walking and use the car less.

I don’t usually count my steps but I think I can do about 7000 per day. The most I have done in a day is maybe 18500. That was on a trip.
