A BRITISH psychologist has said that children’s doctors need to do more to stop kids having problems with alcohol in the future.
Although it’s against the law for those under 18 to buy alcohol, it is not against the law for five to 17-year-olds
to drink alcohol at home with their parents, but it’s not recommended.
Dr Aric Sigman says that doctors should be campaigning for the legal at-home drinking age to go up. He suggests that putting off the age that kids have their first taste of alcohol could cut the chance of them having problems with drinking in the future.
Alcohol use has been linked to more than 200 different illnesses and injuries. Dr Sigman also points out that it is a leading factor around the globe for people dying early and disabilities among 15 to 49-year-olds.

No No No! It could be so incredibly dangerous. All I have ever had is a tiny sip of dad's home made cider.

Absolutely not! Alcohol is awful for your health - especially children because their organs are still growing. It’s not even good for adults but it’s a bit better because their bodies are more able to handle it.

I believe it is important to have a taste of alcohol for the first time as a child with their parents, so children know what it’s like, rather than when they’re with their friends at a bar. However, 5 years old is way too young, so the I believe that the legal-at-home drinking age should be made higher. Plus, I think everyone needs to be more well educated on the health risks of alcohol, so they are more aware about what could happen.

I have tried beer and wine before and it was DISGUSTING!!!!!! I think kids shouldn’t try alcohol until they are about 9 years old.

No! It could be hazardous and dangerous for the kids. I know I will hate beer anyways because once I had a tiny taste of my dad's beer, and it tasted horrible.

No! It is bad for us and can affect our health!

No no no! Absolutely not! It’s bad for kids, it makes them go crazy, and it can easily become addictive, which is not good for children either. It’s really expensive as well, leaving families with alcohol addicted kids and a money shortage! Why would you want that?!?!

Children should of course not be allowed to drink something that can have serious consequences! I've only ever tried teeny tiny sips of my parents drink's and that is the tiniest amount.
aim072012 · 2 years ago
Only a small sip is ideal but letting your child have a massive amount is harmful, this might lead to a disease or risk being inserted into your body leaving you sick for ages.
kadey.mc · 2 years ago
No because it is not healthy for teens and children.

By letting children drink alcohol you are ruining a child's future and a child can do some many things in the future. Alcohol is bad for adults so giving it to children would be worse. Alcohol makes people drunk so they may get drunk. Adults get very drunk sometimes and their ratio of body mass to alcohol is higher than a child's therefore children could get extremely drunk and bully others which isn't good.
Alcohol has a lot of side affects, both physical and mental. It damages your blood and makes you go crazy. Also, alcohol has different effects on different people. So if you give one person alcohol they might be fine but if you give another they might get super drunk. You can't predict this. People with certain diseases might worsen the disease. For example a person might have an allergy to alcohol. Also, children aren't as vigilant as adults and may not know what they put in to their body. They should have that right to know.

Nope!! One: it tastes horrible! Two: it’s bad for you. Three: it can be dangerous for children.

So, I had a tiny glass of wine when I was 11 but only tiny. It’s important that kids have a tiny bit when they’re around 10 so they know what it tastes like. This means they won’t want to know when they’re older and more curious and won’t get as easily addicted. But no more than a tiny bit of alcohol as it could be dangerous.

No, as it Is incredibly dangerous to children's health
shruti_b · 2 years ago
A law should be passed that children should not be allowed to drink alcohol at all. Of course, some adults might not listen and permit their children to drink, or some children may do it in hiding, but laws and restrictions constricts peoples’s actions, making them feel conscious.

uniquestar · 2 years ago
not only is it bad for one's physical health but also mental health.
children shouldn't grow up with alcohol all around them,
we have to bring on a brighter, more structured future!
stingray1 · 2 years ago
I would say no but if you banned it completely, people might start a riot to have it back.
omer44 · 2 years ago
This, is a no. Already adults are going crazy drinking and now children want to spoil their lives as well. NO!
flamingo27 · 2 years ago
No, if children drink alcohol they may become very sick as they are not fully grown and their bodies may not be ready for it so it could lead to diseases and other sicknesses.

💯% no! Alcohol is really bad for you and can damage your heart and lungs and will cause long lasting effects on life
squeezjoos · 2 years ago
I think yes but only a little ( ie limit of 10ml ) so they are not surprised when they first taste it and so that they’re put off . I don’t even like my mum sitting next to me when she has alcohol because it stinks 😷!
squeezjoos · 2 years ago
Also the age limit should be something like 10 - 12 ??
splashy10 · 2 years ago

Absolutely not! Alcohol is bad for health and damages the brain. It is hazardous and only brings more difficulties in life rather than happiness. Some people think things like alcohol and drugs can make them happy, and let them be free, do what they want, and live a little, but it only makes things worse. I don't think anyone could ever really feel free. Look around you. Every inch of land and sea is owned by someone. Every single place is ruled by someone. There are people in charge. What can really make you feel happy and free is doing something you love or you're passionate about, because then it feels like you've filled in your satisfactory needs, and you don't want anything else!
