Toy company Mattel is releasing a new version of the classic board game Scrabble.

Scrabble Together is designed for people who find word games a bit off-putting and will allow people to work in teams. It also has clue cards, an easier scoring system to save on fiddly counting, and is quicker to play.

Ray Adler, the global head of games at Mattel, said: “We want to ensure the game [is] inclusive for all players. For anyone who’s ever thought: ‘Word games aren’t for me’, Scrabble Together mode is an ideal option.”

The news has caused a bit of a stir among those who like Scrabble as it is! They have no need to fear, though: the new board will be double-sided, with Scrabble Together on one side, and the traditional version of the 75-year-old game on the other.
