A committee of young people have called on politicians to provide better support for young people in the UK.

The Youth Select Committee is made up of 12 members aged between 14 and 18 from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. They carried out the UK’s first full review into the impact that the cost of living crisis is having on young people.

Among their recommendations, they say that the Government should:

  •  Require all schools to have a mental health policy and a permanent member of staff dedicated to supporting pupils’ mental health.

At school we have a counsellor, if we want to talk to her, we put a slip of paper with details in a red box by her room and she will come back to us with times and dates.
