A survey has found that a lot of us are very shy about our poo!
Over half of us (61%) cringe over having a poo outside of our own home, and two out of three of us get embarrassed if other people know we’re going for one.
Such is our shame, that a quarter of us won’t even look at our own poo. Half of us have held a poo or a wee in due to our embarrassment, but that can be bad for our health.
Our poo provides vital clues about our health, so letting it out and taking the odd peek can be a good thing.
Loo roll brand Andrex partnered with Bowel Cancer UK for the research to launch their Get Comfortable campaign, which aims to help us to give our shyness the flush.
Our poop can help to identify illnesses, like bowel cancer, which mostly affects people over 50. Genevieve Edwards, Chief Executive at Bowel Cancer UK, says that someone in the UK is diagnosed with the disease every 15 minutes.
She added: “We’re empowering the public to overcome embarrassment that we know can get in the way of an early diagnosis [and] take a big step towards our vision of a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.”
