First News is on a mission to improve children’s oracy – the ability to express yourself fluently and engage with others through speaking.

Oracy matters because speaking skills are essential across the school curriculum and later in our adult lives.

First News held a panel discussion around oracy, including a Q&A session with teachers, in collaboration with Voice 21.

Speaking on the changes she’d like to see to improve children’s oracy, Helen Mulley, Education Lead at First News, said: “Every child should have a trusted source of news, and a safe space where they can talk about it.”
