Speaking and communication skills will be considered just as important as reading and writing in a new shake-up of the school curriculum.
The government has vowed to make speaking, listening and communicating (oracy) a big part of every child’s education in England, from primary school right through to your GCSE exams.
“That ability to articulate yourself [express your thoughts and ideas] confidently is central to success in work and life,” said Education Secretary Lucy Powell.
Powell also highlighted why the rise of AI has made it even more essential that young people are able to communicate in person.
She added: “We need to go harder on the skills that make us human, like oracy.”
