Hi, I’m Aryan, and I am the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the Children’s Parliament.
In my role, I work on ideas to tackle important issues for UK children. AI (artificial intelligence) is one that really seems to spark our curiosity.
With the rise of AI technology across the world, a big question that many people have is: “Will AI take over our jobs?”
AI taking over jobs in one way or another is almost certain. Sam Altman, the CEO of leading AI company OpenAI, said: “Jobs are definitely going to go away, full stop”. However, what is more unclear is the sort of jobs that will be taken over, and what the future of work will look like for us as we become adults.
While jobs that involve simple repetitive actions may begin to be replaced by AI, it is important to remember that it is tricky for AI to replicate higher-skilled jobs that need a ‘human touch’.
The human qualities of empathy and true creativity cannot be replaced by AI, but the world of work could still be unrecognisable by the time we enter the workforce.
