THERE’S more good news when it comes to fighting COVID-19 – a new vaccine has been created that’s 95% effective.

US company Moderna carried out trials of their vaccine on 30,000 people, with half being given two doses of the vaccine, four weeks apart, and the rest having dummy injections. The company claim the vaccine is protecting 94.5% of the people who’ve had it.

Moderna expects to have 20 million doses available in America and hopes to have up to one billion doses available for use around the world. The UK has ordered five million doses of the vaccine, which should be available from spring 2021.

After the recent vaccine news, you feel more positive that the pandemic will end?

No, because some people won’t get the vaccine and are against it. Also, it will only be available to the UK in spring.

Yes and no, Yes because if there is a vaccine avalible for a very dangerous disease then any normal person would go and get it but no because there is that small pool of people who just refuse to get vaccinated and that would case a problem.

It won't ever be gone, but it will be able to be treated. Which is great news for everyone!

Yes, even though it's only 95% it's still a hope that things can get better. A month ago did we predict today people are getting injected? If we take small steps we can build back the world and get to some sort of normal

No. Kids won't recieve the vaccine, and that will lead to other people getting infected, and so on. The only reason we need a vaccine to stop the virus is that we said that the virus wasn't dangerous and we weren't scared of it. We need to be scared of something to do something properly.

Yeah! Everything will be ok!!!

I think no, coz its a virus, so that means it will change often, so we will need MANY vaccines.

i do feel confident about the vaccine

na1mz · 3 years ago

No I do not think it will change because lots of people will not take the vaccine even if they need it. And even if the vaccine works everyone will not listen to the rules. :(
