Global Teacher Prize

Maggie MacDonnell was recently named as the world’s best teacher and awarded the $1 million Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2017 at a special ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last weekend.

First News editor in chief Nicky Cox was in Dubai for the event, as she was one of the judges for this year’s Global Teacher Prize.

Nicky said: “The event at the Palm Atlantis Hotel in Dubai was spectacular. Bear Grylls skydived out of a helicopter to deliver the trophy to the ceremony, before the winner was announced from the International Space Station. So cool.”

Of course, First News Live! has that epic video for you. Check it out and comment below.

The skydive was awesome, but I'm not sure about the award. After all, there are tons of good teachers, not just one.
