Mehul: A better world for everyone

by Mehul

The wellbeing of both the current and future generations is seriously threatened by the urgent issues of pollution and sustainability. In the UK, alarming statistics underscore the severity of the situation, with air pollution contributing to approximately 40,000 premature deaths each year and plastic waste polluting oceans at an alarming rate, endangering all sorts of marine life.

For today’s generation, growing up in an time marked by environmental decline and climate change, pollution poses a direct threat to not only their health, but also their development and future prospects. Exposure to air pollution can lead to breathing problems, asthma, and other health issues. This unfairly affects vulnerable people, especially children, whose developing bodies are more likely to be affected.

Moreover, the plastic pollution in oceans and waterways poses risks to children’s safety and wellbeing, as microplastics can contaminate food sources and enter the food chain, potentially causing long-term harm to human health. The psychological impact of environmental degradation on children should not be overlooked, as growing up in an environment damaged by pollution and ecological destruction can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress, and hopelessness about the future.

Addressing these pressing environmental challenges requires organised efforts and bold action from governments, communities, businesses and individuals alike. Solutions to tackle pollution and promote sustainability include moving to renewable energy sources, investing in public transport and green infrastructure [power supplies etc], introducing stricter regulations on emissions and waste management, and raising awareness about the importance of looking after the environment and conservation.
