This spring, the Tom Gates series turns 15 years old, and to celebrate its special anniversary, we’re challenging you to create your very own Tom Gates book cover.

We’re talking dynamic doodles, spectacular squiggles and cool characters – and maybe even a terrific title! Let your pens and pencils run wild.

Use the blank cover on p21 of issue 1031, or download fresh blank covers to print and use at first.news/tomgatescover.

Once you’re finished, ask a grown-up to take a nice, clear photo or scan of your creation, email it to us at [email protected] and Liz herself will pick her favourite.

The winner will receive:

• a signed copy of the latest book, Tom Gates: Pesky Pets and Parties (Hopefully), and a new edition of The Brilliant World of Tom Gates (with new bonus story)
