Advent Calendar 2017

video

TO celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, First News is running an online advent calendar on First News Live! until Christmas Day.

We’ve got 25 festive treats wrapped up in the form of fun videos, celebrity shout-outs, Christmassy galleries (prepare for a parade of pups in Santa hats) and other surprises, ready and waiting for you! All you have to do is open the new “door” each day.

And behind DOOR NUMBER 22…

The most magical Christmas animation from our friends at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH).

One of GOSH’s brave patients is featured as the main character in the short film. Eleven-year-old Evan has undergone chemotherapy, blood transfusions and spent months in isolation to help treat his rare condition. He was diagnosed with severe aplastic anaemia, which meant that his body stopped producing blood cells. His older brother, Christian, donated his bone marrow to save Evan’s life after he was found to be a perfect match. It goes to show how vital research is in Evan’s recovery from this rare condition – a theme in the film you’re about to watch.

The animation is voiced by actor Rob Brydon, who you may recognise from films like The Huntsman: Winter’s War, The Gruffalo and Cinderella

A big thank you to the team at GOSH for sharing this with us.
