A GROUP of environmental campaigners glued themselves to the M25 motorway to demand that the Government insulates the UK’s draughty homes.
Insulate Britain, an offshoot of the Extinction Rebellion movement (XR), is calling on the Government to insulate the homes of the UK’s poorest people, to lower energy bills and make homes warmer, while reducing carbon emissions.
Formed in the summer, the group has been hosting online events as well as in-person talks across England and Wales.
More recently, it has staged sit-down protests at major roads, causing disruption for motorists.
Protesters have said that they don’t want to stop traffic, but are forced to out of desperation, as they feel “this is the only action we hope the Government will take note of”.
One driver told LBC Radio that he was stopped by the protests while taking his mum, who was having a stroke, to hospital. He said that the disruption meant she was left paralysed on one side, as she couldn’t get treatment in time.

I don’t think causing disruption is a very good idea but I can understand why they do it.

Helping the planet is super important! But I don't think disruption is the way, because it only makes people angry; it doesn't make them listen or respect you!
If we want more people on our side we need peaceful protests only.

We understand they want to make their voices heard,this isn’t the right way to do it. They can’t disrupt the public’s lives and routine. They are just making people angry, not making them listen. They could stop critically ill patients getting the treatment they need, and emergency services could be delayed.

I believe disruption isn't a good way of protesting, because u are creating havoc and chaos.
This may result in selfishness.

I think that it is ok, as long as it is not too big - so somewhere that is not very busy.

Absolutely not because all the people who would be disturbed would be confused and wouldn’t like it at all. I think it is a bad idea to disrupt. Like who knows? The person might be taking someone to hospital because of an emergency.

Definitely not. If anything it makes people less likely to support you. Like me for example. I'm sick of the Extinction Rebellion.

This is not a way of protesting. I would get very mad if I was stuck in a queue just because of people like them.

If an ambulance was trying to get to someone and then protesters were in the way, it could stop getting a person potentially life saving treatment.

There are hardworking individuals who go to work everyday and come home late and these people are disrupting their already difficult days. There are so many other ways to make a difference and this is not it!
