Huge swarms of drones are already set to be an environmentally-friendly alternative to fireworks, but they’re also going to look really, really cool, if Intel’s latest display is anything to go by.
The tech company wowed crowds at the CES 2018 show in Las Vegas, US, with a fleet of 250 Shooting Star drones. They performed a colourful routine that was synced with the Fountains of Bellagio and soundtracked by Kygo’s Stargazing.
Drones VS fireworks
The drones’ advantage over fireworks is that they don’t pollute the environment and cause smog, although they still obviously need electricity to charge them up. Drones can also write words and phrases, and make patterns that would be physically impossible with fireworks.
If you watch the video above, you immediately realise the other advantage – you can hear the music. If you’ve ever seen a standard fireworks display set to music, you’ll have noticed that the loud bangs drown the tunes out a lot of the time. Wins all round, if you ask us.
Check out the drones take to the sky above!

So amazing, personally I like the fountains better, but what precision! How did they manage to control them so that they were in unison?
