Women’s sport in the UK is booming, with record-breaking audiences throughout 2025.

A new study from the Women’s Sport Trust (WST) shows that women made up 44% of the TV audience for the Women’s Euros (above) and 43% for the Women’s Rugby World Cup – the highest on record for both competitions. England won both tournaments in what was a summer of huge sporting success.

There were also strong viewing figures across the Women’s Super League, The Hundred and Netball Super League.

This means that between January and September, British viewers spent a record 357 million hours watching women’s sport, up from 339 million hours during the same period in 2023.

Tammy Parlour, CEO of the WST, said: “The biggest moments on UK television have come from women’s sport, and audiences are watching for longer than ever before.”

Arguably the biggest moment was the Women’s Euro final against Spain, which drew a huge peak audience of 16.22 million.
