Moana 2 sails into cinemas today (29 November), and its superstar actor, Dwayne Johnson, hopes you’ll all be singing along to its songs!

Johnson, who plays the demi-god Maui in the film, isn’t talking about singing in the car, at home or in the playground. He says it’s perfectly okay to belt out some tunes in the cinema, if you feel like it.

“Sing!” he told the BBC at the UK premiere of the movie. “You’ve paid your hard-earned money for a ticket, and you’ve gone into a musical, and you’re into it. Sing. Especially if you love music, that’s the fun part.”

How far will you go?

The first Moana movie introduced a wave of wonderful new Disney songs into our ears, such as You’re Welcome, which Maui sings to Moana when the two first meet.

The sequel also has a raft of catchy tunes, and Wicked, another movie that’s out now, features songs that its fans know and adore, too.

But cinemas are usually quiet places where you get shushed for talking or even munching your popcorn too loudly. Is it really okay to sing, or do you think it would ruin people’s enjoyment?

I don't think you should sing in the cinema. Maybe humming, because no one else would hear you over the music except yourself.

Quiet singing should be allowed except loud singing because you would be disturbing other people from watching the movie and enjoying it.
