A Government report has found that less than half of pupils say that they always feel safe at secondary school.
In May 2023, the Department for Education surveyed thousands of children from Year 7 up to Year 11.
Of those pupils, just 38% said they’d felt safe every day that week.
It doesn’t seem to matter what year you’re in, either. Even when the responses are split between younger kids in Years 7 to 9 and the older kids in Years 10 to 11, the 38% figure stays the same.
In contrast to how pupils feel, 69% of head teachers and senior staff said that their school is safe every day.

Honestly, I’m a mix. I feel safe at school but sometimes me and my friends have BIG arguments and I don’t feel as safe.
