Should we cancel Christmas?

Polls

2nd November 2020

TWO months to go and there is no doubt that whatever happens, Christmas will be different this year.

The COVID-19 crisis is not going away, so the question is how many people will we be able to celebrate with on the big day?

Professor Jason Leitch, Scotland’s national clinical director, says we should prepare for a “digital Christmas”, or does that sound so awful we should just cancel it altogether?

For some who love a big family Christmas, seeing our loved ones on a screen could be worse than not seeing them at all.

Alternatively, we could embrace it and go all out setting up family quizathons, sharing family movie moments and even having grandma online at the end of the table during dinner. What do you think?

You can't cancel Christmas as you will still get presents.

No, don't cancel it. I think it will be nice to spend a peaceful Christmas with my Mum and brother. Shopping and presents are not important anymore.

Christmas definitely shouldn’t be cancelled. It is such a magical time for all of us; a special opportunity to be with family. It doesn’t matter whether it’s face to face, or on a zoom call, at least we can enjoy time together.

Christmas should just be celebrated twice, the first time at Christmas and covid safe, the second after the vaccine and once there are fewer restrictions.

ninjahorse · 3 years ago

NO WAY because:
1. IT'S THE BIRTH OF JESUS, PEOPLE!
2. You can have it with only the people you live with!
So....
GET REAL

You can't cancel Christmas because it's one of the most important events in Christianity.

No need to cancel christmas. Just celebrate safely. Everyone needs something to look forward to at the moment!

Christmas is the absolute best I would be so sad if it was cancelled because that is when I get to see all of my family! 🥰

I think we should cancel Christmas because of COVID-19 restrictions and celibate after COVID-19

humbugs · 3 years ago

we should just quarantine the presents and cards. We should zoom or facetime.✉️📦🎁

Everyone is already down because of the month long lockdown. If we canceled Christmas that would bring morale down even further, which is the last thing we want to happen. If anything, Christmas should be bigger than previous years to boost happiness!

Very true, Hayne. Even for those who are not religious, it is often a lovely festival.
