If the teachers are holding guns as defense, I would be scared because it would be quite hectic and by mistake the teacher could accidentally shoot you, and your life may be gone...

I wouldn’t feel safe if teachers carried guns. In the U.K. only specialist police officers can use guns. They are highly trained to use them. Where would it stop, would doctors, firefighters and nurses end up with them too? You only need to look at America to see how much trouble guns can cause and how many people are maimed and killed by them.

If there was an intruder and the teacher had a gun, she/he might accidentally shoot a class window (where there are students), a student out in the hallway or even a staff member and kill them. So I think it is more safer if teachers didn’t have any guns with them.

I wouldn't school is supposed to be a warm and welcoming environment not one with guns.

Teachers should never carry guns. That's not what teachers are meant to do. They should educate children and help shape the future, not have a gun in their office and be prepared to shoot an actual living person at any time. That is the police and military's job. It's not fair on teachers and students alike. And what if someone breaks into the school and gets hold of the gun? And what if a student gets hold of a gun? Teachers should not be trained to fight. They should be trained to educate.

What if a gunman came in and took that gun too? Or what if a student got their hands on it? Guns should be banned anyway as they are fatal and this will keep happening until they are banned. Just ban the guns and there will be no problem in the first place!

That is a ridiculous way to try and stop gun crime. it is just promoting it. The teachers would be shooting people in front of students, which promotes violence. Gun ownership should be taken away to stop this problem, not letting more and more people use it

Well the person who made this rule obviously wanted to make this rule for safety but they didn't really look at what else could happen,so no i would not feel safe with teachers carrying guns in school.

I think it would be a good idea, especially where school shootings are common. The only downside in my opinion, is that students may steal the guns and use them themselves. It’s a good idea, and will save the lives of many, if used carefully!

I'm honestly not sure because where I live, we are not threatened with shootings. In an area where young people are threatened, they might feel safer if they had some form of protection. Personally, no. But thats just my opinion.

The problem with this shooting is not the lack of guns but the presence of them and how easy they are to acquire. I quote from Mr Trump, "If the teacher had a gun, they could have shot the hell out of the damn guy". Let that sink in for a moment. Many American's believe if they didn't have legal firearms they wouldn't be able to defend themselves, but if no one has firearms then their isn't anything to defend themselves from.

Yes due to the fact a quick thinking teacher would be able to protect their students in a crisis such as a terror attack but they should be trained first of coarse. No as some schools do not do proper background checks so the teacher could not be as safe as the school believes them to be or the adult implies.

This could lead to further complications and could not go as expected. Also teachers would have to have specialist training and with Brexit can we really afford to train teachers to shoot it as a country? Teachers can be responsible adults but with the pressure of saving the class could their aim go off point and hit an innocent student or member of staff? I do not know what to really say but maybe it would be better if highly trained teachers in the ways of shooting should carry guns or maybe instead a young inquisitive child finds the gun and accidentally pulls the trigger thinking it is a toy? Or maybe it could get into the wrong hands.
