21 October, Huddersfield, UK: Labour’s Tracy Brabin is declared the winner of the Batley and Spen by-election. The by-election was prompted by the death of Labour MP Jo Cox, who was killed earlier this year. Other main parties did not contend the seat out of respect for Mrs Cox.
