Berlin, Germany – January 23: Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel meets a member of the Carnival, during the annual Carnival reception at the Chancellery. Pretty soon, Carnival will begin across southwestern Germany – ending in Rose Monday parades and festivities on February 27.
