31 MAY: GODAGAMA, SRI LANKA – A boy tries to ride his bike across a flooded road. More than 200 people have died, mostly due to landslides caused by heavy rains. Officials say that most of the deaths are due to homes being built illegally on hillsides. More than 600,000 have been made homeless in the worst floods to hit the island in 14 years.
