6 JANUARY: TUMPAT, MALAYSIA – An aerial view of the flooded area in Jal Besar, Malaysia’s northeastern town of Tumpat, which borders Thailand. More than 15,000 people remained stranded in relief centres in northern Malaysia after days of tropical downpours as thousands more headed home to survey the damage wreaked by the floods.
